Complete Pair & Half Pair

We need one complete pair to use the sine rule. The angle or side that we can find is the one that completes another pair.

To use the sine rule to answer a question, you must have values for a complete pair i.e the length of a side and corresponding angle, and have the either the side that corresponds to the angle you are trying to find or the angle that corresponds to the side you are trying to find.

[Quiz]
Find the angle B of the triangle in the right figure (click to enlarge).

[Answer]
$\displaystyle \frac{5.1}{\sin{100°}}=\frac{3.6}{\sin{B}}$
$\sin{B}=\frac{\sin{100°}}{5.1}×3.6=0.6951...$
$B=\sin^{-1}0.6951...=44.0°$

[Complete Pair  & Half Pair 問題]
